Background: Declined a training contract at a Magic Circle law firm Clifford Chance LLP to pursue a career in other areas.
Lengthy background of working and volunteering in a number of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and Charities including the Network for Police Monitoring, Islamic Human Rights Commission, StopWatch, Release and Y-stop. One of the founders of the Anti-Raids Network and the Stop Deportations Network.
Contributed to Home Office consultations that have led the Home Office to change their policy guidance.
Sat as a member on the following panels: British Transport Police Stop and Search Community Consultation Group, the College of Policing Stop Search Strategic Scrutiny Group and Her Majesty’s Inspector of Constabulary Stop and Search External Reference Group.
Trained as a Solicitor at both leading Human Rights law firms and charities – Birnberg Peirce Solicitors under supervision by some Chambers and Partners ranked Fee Earners, and the Prisoners’ Advice Service.
